SFF has announced the imminent launch of the “Verbier-Express” from December 21, 2019.  The train will provide a convenient, direct link between Geneva Airport and Le Châble every Saturday and Sunday.

“The snow train will leave on Saturday and Sunday morning and return in the evening. The new route will run throughout the coming ski season, providing fast link to the ski slopes of Verbier and Bruson,”

CFF regional director, Alain Barbey.

The Verbier-Express will make the same route as the IR 90, but passengers will no longer need to disembark and change trains in Martigny to reach their destination of Le Châble, making getting to Verbier even more convenient.

“We will offer a very competitive package along with entertainment on the train,” said Alain Barbey. Price and times are yet to be decided, but it is expected that the first departure from Geneva will be around 7.30 am.

“With the new infrastructure provided by the new station at Le Châble, we could not miss such an opportunity,” says Director of Télévrbier, Laurent Vaucher

Verbier will be able to offer a faster, easier option for clients wanting to support environmentally friendly transport options and for motorists who prefer to avoid parking fees and being stuck in the traditional traffic jams on Saturday and Sunday night.

To implement this offer, SBB has collaborated with their subsidiary RegionAlps, along with Verbier Tourisme and Téléverbier. As a result, Verbier will become the first station in French-speaking Switzerland to use the SwissPass (the public transport card). One of the significant advantages of this new feature is enabling skiers to download their ski pass easily from home.
